We’re centrally located in the heart of the Corn Belt surrounded by acres and acres of the best irrigated corn production in the nation. Since we can get high quality corn close by, your cattle enjoy a quality ration at a lower cost. This translates into higher profits when your cattle are marketed.
Low-cost grain isn’t the only advantage to our location. T&E is in close proximity to some of the nation’s largest packing house companies like JBS’s Grand Island plant and Cargill’s Schuyler plant. When you feed your cattle at T&E, the cost of getting your cattle to market is less, and the savings end up in your bank account.
The service at T&E doesn’t stop when your cattle reach market weight. We can market your cattle on live or rail basis. More importantly, we have the ability to negotiate “grid-based” marketing for your cattle, a specialized marketing technique that has proven to return premiums to cattle producers.
After nearly five decades in the cattle feeding business, we’ve gained some valuable insights into the way different cattle perform on different feed rations.
At T&E, the first thing we do is look at the type and age of cattle you have, determine how they can be expected to perform, and then set up a feeding program that will meet that goal.
While high quality Nebraska corn is a staple in our yard, it isn’t the only option. Our location in America’s heartland provides a wide variety of quality feeds including alfalfa hay, corn and rye silage, flaked corn, and others without paying high transportation cost. Cattle fed at T&E have a proven history of performing well above regional averages in terms of average daily gain and cost of gain.
You’d expect a top feed yard to have the latest in technology, and we do. A state-of-the-art corn flaking system was completed in 2017. All feed ingredients are scaled electronically. Micro-ingredients are added to the ration through sophisticated measuring equipment. The batching scale is linked to a computer to ensure accurate posting of the feed in each pen.
We know technology can’t do the entire job. That’s why we have experienced feed truck operators delivering fresh feed to each pen twice daily. Our skilled pen riders, while on horseback, evaluate each animal as they ride through each pen daily.
